The Movement Disorder Society needed an app for the 17th International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders that took place in Sydney, Australia in June 2013. We had an app for our 16th International Congress in partnership with another organization, but it never really worked the way the staff hoped it would. This was our first time creating a marketing event app. Matt and Mark helped us immensely with the requirements for the graphics, as well as replied quickly when we needed assistance. Everyone was very patient with our questions and learning curve, and would provide timely suggestions. We were incredibly limited on resources and appreciated the simplicity of the admin panel and uploading graphics and files.
Our app was delivered on time and looked and performed beautifully for our event. Many participants during our event kept the app open to follow along our agenda and seminar details. For over two and a half years, AppBurst has developed two iPhone apps for us – one designed to help our conference attendees maximize their conference experience with information about news, exhibitors and the program, and the second to provide mobile access to our clinical database web site. AppBurst was referred to us by one of our freelancers as we were preparing materials for our Trustee Conference, which led us to partner with them in the development of an iPad app for the event. We really wanted a way for attendees to be able to follow along [to event content] in the meeting room. We also wanted a way to let people know of last minute changes in room assignments, as well as to get all the information on the hotel, activities, restaurants, etc. into their hands while they were onsite. In using AppBurst, we received a lot of assistance in learning how to place information into the app and how to use it. We really liked how it turned out and received a lot of positive feedback from our attendees. We did need to alert attendees of a room change and were able to do so by using the push alert function of the app. We were also able to incorporate our survey rather than handing out a printed version. Overall, our attendees really liked having everything at their fingertips.
